Understanding what drives human behavior has always fascinated me. From the subtle nuances of interpersonal communication to the deeper patterns that shape decisions and emotions, psychology offers a powerful lens through which we can explore the human experience. As a proud graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston, I am now stepping into the world of behavioral analysis with both curiosity and purpose.
A Strong Academic Foundation
My undergraduate journey was defined by academic dedication and a passion for learning. I was honored to be named to the Dean’s Honor List from 2018 to 2020, placing in the top 15% of my class. Membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society further reflects my commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
Beyond the classroom, I embraced the challenge of balancing coursework with intramural powerlifting, which taught me resilience, goal setting, and the value of mental strength—a lesson highly relevant to the field of psychology.
Core Skills that Drive My Passion
The field of behavioral analysis requires a blend of analytical thinking, empathy, and communication. Through rigorous coursework, research opportunities, and collaborative projects, I developed a skill set that positions me well for this path:
- Interpersonal Communication: Psychology taught me the art of active listening and connecting with people on a deeper level—skills critical in therapeutic or consulting environments.
- Empathy: Cultivating a genuine understanding of others’ emotional states is at the heart of behavioral insight and support.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Whether conducting research or interpreting patterns in behavior, I’ve honed the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex information.
- Critical Thinking: Every theory and case study challenged me to question assumptions and think deeply about cause and effect.
- Research Skills: From literature reviews to structured data collection, I gained hands-on experience in exploring psychological phenomena.
Why Behavioral Analysis?
What excites me about behavioral analysis is its application in both clinical and organizational settings. Whether it’s helping individuals with developmental disorders through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or driving behavioral insights in a corporate environment, this field offers diverse ways to make a meaningful impact.
Behavioral analysts combine compassion with data to create tailored interventions. That balance of human connection and scientific reasoning is what fuels my drive to become a professional in this field.
Looking Ahead
As I move forward in my journey toward becoming a Behavioral Analyst, I am actively seeking further training, certifications, and professional experience. My long-term goal is to use behavioral science to empower individuals, shape better environments, and promote positive outcomes—whether in healthcare, education, or corporate settings.
Final Thoughts
Psychology is more than a major—it’s a calling to understand, support, and improve the human condition. With a strong academic foundation, a growing set of analytical and interpersonal tools, and a passion for behavioral insight, I am excited to contribute meaningfully to the field of behavioral analysis.
